SS-31 (Elamipretide) is a synthetic mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide with the sequence D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH₂ (where Dmt = 2',6'-dimethyltyrosine). With a molecular weight of 639.8 g/mol, molecular formula C₃₂H₄₉N₉O₅, and CAS number 736992-21-5, SS-31 has been extensively studied in published research for its selective accumulation in the inner mitochondrial membrane, cardiolipin binding affinity, and effects on electron transport chain efficiency.
