BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide consisting of 15 amino acids (sequence: Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala-Gly-Leu-Val) derived from a partial sequence of human gastric juice protein. With a molecular weight of 1419.5 g/mol and CAS number 137525-51-0, BPC-157 has been the subject of extensive preclinical research investigating its role in tissue repair pathways, nitric oxide signaling, and growth factor modulation. Published in vitro and animal model studies have examined BPC-157's interaction with the FAK-paxillin pathway, VEGF-mediated angiogenesis, and tendon-to-bone healing mechanisms. This compound is supplied exclusively as a lyophilized research reagent for laboratory investigation. It is not intended for human or veterinary use, and no claims regarding therapeutic efficacy are made or implied. Researchers should consult applicable institutional guidelines before use.

BPC-157 — Research Reference
A 15-amino-acid pentadecapeptide derived from a gastric juice protein, widely studied in tissue-repair research models.
What is BPC-157?
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide composed of the sequence Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala-Gly-Leu-Val. It is derived from a partial sequence of a human gastric juice protein and has been investigated since the early 1990s as a model compound in tissue-repair, gastrointestinal, and angiogenesis research. The molecule is stable in aqueous solution at room temperature for extended periods — a property uncommon among research peptides — and remains intact when exposed to gastric acid in in vitro digestion models. Published research on BPC-157 spans several hundred peer-reviewed studies covering musculoskeletal injury models, gastrointestinal lesion models, and endothelial cell culture work. Noxa Labs supplies BPC-157 as a Janoshik-tested reference material with full HPLC documentation per batch.
Mechanism in research literature
In the research literature, BPC-157 is most commonly characterised through its observed interactions with the nitric oxide (NO) system, the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pathway, and growth hormone receptor expression. Studies in rodent injury models describe accelerated formation of granulation tissue and capillary networks at injury sites following BPC-157 administration, along with measurable upregulation of VEGFR2 and FAK/paxillin signalling in cultured endothelial cells. The compound does not appear to engage a single canonical receptor; instead, the literature describes a constellation of effects on cytoprotective and pro-angiogenic pathways. Reviews published in Current Pharmaceutical Design (2018, 2022) and Life Sciences (2021) summarise the mechanistic literature in detail and are linked in the Studies tab on this page. Researchers working with BPC-157 in culture should consult those reviews for assay-context appropriate concentration ranges.
Documented research applications
BPC-157 has been investigated in published research across tendon, ligament, and muscle injury rodent models; gastrointestinal lesion and inflammatory bowel models; central nervous system injury models; and in vitro angiogenesis assays. It is one of the most cited research peptides in the tissue-repair literature. Studies pairing BPC-157 with TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4 fragment) are common in musculoskeletal research literature, which is why we also stock the two as a combined analytical reference blend for laboratories that prefer a single reconstitution. All findings discussed here describe research model outcomes only — no clinical claims are made.
Reconstitution
BPC-157 is supplied lyophilised. For laboratory handling, reconstitute with bacteriostatic water for injection (BAC water) to a working concentration appropriate to your assay. A 2.5 mg/mL working stock (add 2 mL BAC water to a 5 mg vial) is a common reference point; adjust per assay requirements. Allow the vial to come to room temperature before reconstitution. Swirl gently — do not shake — until the lyophilate is fully dissolved.
Storage & stability
Lyophilised BPC-157 is stable at room temperature for short transit periods. For long-term storage, hold at 2–8 °C (refrigerated) protected from light. Once reconstituted, store at 2–8 °C and use within the stability window specified on the batch COA (typically 4–6 weeks for BPC-157 in BAC water).
